Nothing can be more frustrating than trying to be consistent in a fitness routine, but living a live filled with business trips, traveling, and, well, an inconsistent life.
These issues can be solved with finding places to stay with gym access, where you can continue your routine on their various cardio equipment and gym systems.
But for those who practice yoga, it’s not as easy. Regardless if were staying at a hotel, or even vacationing abroad, bringing along a yoga mat usually isn’t on our list of things to pack.
So wouldn’t it be a god-send to have a completely transportable way to bring our yoga practice everywhere that we go?
Yoga-SYZ has developed a great way to take yoga where ever you might go – regardless if you’re traveling or just in your bedroom: Yoga Paws are the answer.
What are Yoga Paws?
These clever contraptions snugly fit over your hands and feet, transforming your palms and soles into a make-shift yoga mat. But that’s not all – they are made from eco-friendly TPE yoga mat material, and are free of chlorides, latex, and PVC.
How do they feel?
The paws on your palms are akin to biking gloves, and your feet are fitted with a snug half-sock. They have a high level of elasticity, assuring a snug, but comfortable fit. They are cushioned, with a towel lining that absorbs moisture, no matter what kind of yoga you practice. We really like the ventilation provided through the mesh lining, allowing for breathability and circulation.
Maintaining their life
Assuming that after many uses your paws might not smell as fresh as the day you got them, the website and packaging provides easy care steps: hand wash them, inside out, in cold water with a gentle soap. Air dry. They recommend washing them after each use, and a quick five-minute sudsing will not only maintain their longevity, but is also is a planet-friendly way to keep them clean.
Enclosed DVD: Gail Getzwiller’s Yoga-Syz video
We were pleased to receive a yoga DVD, which comes free with the purchase of the paws. The program is a quick workout for busy individuals on the go, and the DVD format is easy to take with you if you have a laptop or access to a DVD player and television.
The program contains two 18 minute sessions. The first one is focused on traditional Hatha poses, and is developing for beginners or those who prefer a more basic routine. The second session combines fitness and yoga, using strength-training moves, such as pushups and situps, and is a great complement to the first session for a more advanced workout.
Both sessions, however, are definitely beginner friendly – each move is modified for the level you prefer. If you are an advanced yoga practicer but prefer a structured “class”, then you can easily add and modify movements to incorporate your own poses to further challenge yourself.
The myriad of individuals featured on the DVD, displaying beginner and advanced movements for all levels to adapt, practice their poses on Navajo rugs and are equipped with the Yoga Paws.
Bonus points!
We love the minimal packaging that our Yoga-Paws came in. A small box was outfitted with all of the materials without extra padding – just enough for it to ensure a safe delivery.
One side note on where to practice with your paws
We recommend still performing your yoga practice atop a carpeted area or on a rug, especially if you are working with the provided DVD. Many movements would cause stress to your knees or back on a hard surface. However, testing the grip on hardwood floors proved to work just as well – but only for standing poses.
Considering the cost of a yoga mat can range from $30 to $70, we feel that the Yoga-Paws are a steal at just $35, allowing you to bring your yoga practice anywhere.
